It's Only a Game

USA Women’s Hockey Team took the Silver Medal at the Olympics today after their 2-0 lost to the Canadians. I congratulate Team USA on their Silver. They play a great game and should be proud of themselves. They played a very good Canadian team.

The thing I was disappointed with more than losing was Team USA’s sportsmanship after the game. Now I understand emotions are high and they’re coming down from the adrenaline but they could have been a little more gracious to the Canadian players and fans. I was stun to see our players standing like spoiled brats who couldn’t have their way. I was amazed that the Canadian fans began to chant “USA! USA! USA!” after Team USA received their medals and our women barley showed any appreciation. Then when the Canadians received their Gold medal Team USA stood dejected and looking miserable instead of being happy for the Canadian team and appreciating the Olympic spirit. A few of USA player tried to be respectful but most just seem to let themselves get to lost in the self-pity.

I was very disappointed in our team and the images that were being televised to me that showed America as sore loser to the world. Even though I’m sure it was more about our team being disappointed in themselves it comes off more as bad sportsmanship. They have to remember that they should show grace in losing, especially in the Olympics. I only hope that future USA teams remember what the Olympics are about and that when it is all said an done it’s just a game.

Selfish Terrorist

So some guy flew his plane into a Federal building in Texas today. I will not mention the guy’s name because I don’t think it’s worth mentioning. I read this guy’s suicide note/manifesto.

First I want to say my prayers and thoughts to his family, friends and all those who were affected by his act.

That being said, this guy was a cry baby. He whined and blamed everyone for his problems. He complained about the government and rich a lot but also Unions. He talked about government spending and taxes but complained that they didn’t pass health care which would be more taxing and spending.

So what does this guy do? He crashed his plane into a building. His plane! For a guy who complained a lot about being broke he some how was able to own a plane and kept it at an airfield where I’m sure he had to pay rent for a space. It’s funny that he talked about being broke but seemed to be able to buy expensive toys.

Now here is what really pisses me off. This guy whines on about all his misfortune with business and a passed divorce in his manifesto. But apparently he owned a plane and lived in a middle-class neighborhood and in a home that was $230,000 and from reports he had a wife and kid. But no where did I see where he showed any gratitude for what he had in his manifesto. No, instead he burns his house down and if the reports are true about being married with a kid well they’re now homeless and will his homeowner's insurance cover the house since he burned it down? Also if he had a life insurance policy his beneficiary probably won’t get anything since it was a suicide. If he had any debt well guess who gets stuck with that! If he is married it will be his wife. I hope he had his affairs in order or that the news reports are wrong and he is not married. Because if not, it just shows how much of an irresponsible person he was and maybe it explains why his life was so “bad”.

Why do I think that if everything in this guy’s life went the way he wanted and he ended up rich, he wouldn’t be complaining about all the injustices in the world. Perhaps it’s not others he should be blaming but himself.

I see him as a self-centered and spoiled person. I’m sure his family and friends saw another side but I’m sorry, from his manifesto and his act that is a selfish self-center man. Those people working in that Federal building are just people like him, just trying to pay their bills. Not everyone in there was a high paid government person. Believe it or not there are people who are just maintenance people working there too. You also have citizens coming there to deal with things and talk to people for help. Not everyone is an evil government bureaucrat in the government. Plus guess who will have to pay for the damages and the workers who can’t work? Yup that’s right you and me, the taxpayers. So much for him thinking about others. Sure he can sit there and think about the past and how his life was affected but can't think but how his future acts will affect others. Nope all he saw is that he started the revolution. A revolution he had no plans of being a part of.

For what he has done to his family and innocent people, this why I say he was selfish, self-centered and irresponsible and that is what really caused all his problems in life.

This was not an act of a revolutionary but an act of spoiled brat who threw a tantrum because he can’t have what he wants and is ungrateful for what he had.

Terrorism: Americans Can’t Show Fear

Terrorism: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/terrorism
1. the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes.
2. the state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization.
3. a terroristic method of governing or of resisting a government.

Terrorism is a psychological war. Terrorists don’t care about how many they kill. It’s not about the numbers it’s about instilling fear. Even if an attempt fails it is still considered a success to the terrorist because it causes fear. The hope is that once the majority of people are in fear they will pressure their government to give into the terrorists. Problem with these terrorists is they really don’t want anything. It really is not political or material. It is ideological. I don’t believe ideologists are going to negotiate unless they feel they are losing but even that depends on their sanity.

So our government must get serious and the people of America must take it seriously and send a message that we will not be frightened.

Extra security measures are fine but we must view them as a way of finding the terrorists not as way of making ourselves safer. Even if they do make us safer we must word them in such a way that it’s not about our safety it’s about catching the terrorists. It’s about sending a psychological message back that we are not afraid.

Personally, I would be fine with not increasing security. I think every time you increase security on the basis of safety, the terrorists win. The war on terrorism will only end when the terrorists believe that we have no fear of them or death. Only then will they see their efforts to kill us are pointless and therefore their cause is useless. Believe it or not most people in general don’t want to die for no reason. Well, except for the truly crazy ones.

My Puppy Memorial

About 7½ months ago my puppy passed away. We still miss her.
She was an Akita and we always called her Puppy even though she was 11 years old. She always loved the snow and being in the snow but hated the rain and puddles. She was gentle and loving especially with children. She was a very good dog even til the end.

I just got older

So I’m watching the Olympics and looking at the faces of these great athletes, which most age anywhere between their late teens to their late twenties. Now I’ve watched the Olympics since I was a little kid and back then I would look at the faces of these young adults and think how old they looked and grown up they were. But many years later I’m sitting and looking at these young adults and thinking they’re so young. These are just kids. I asked myself why are they so much younger looking today, what changed? Then I realized it was me that changed, I just got older.

David Bowie said this would happen.

“Oh, look out you rock 'n rollers
Pretty soon you're gonna get a little older
Time may change me
But I can't trace time” - Changes

Currently I’m still constructing my blog but in the near future I plan to be discussing many topics that interest me, such as History, Cultures, Politics, News, Internet and other subjects. Basically trying to get thoughts and rants out of my head and hopefully I won’t end up with writers block.

Please check back in the near future and see what happens.

Thanks
